LAU Compliance Manual for MLL Students
Program Goals
The MLL program supports students in developing English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while maintaining academic progress. Students transition to mainstream classes as their English skills develop, ensuring they can participate fully in grade-level coursework.
Program Exit Criteria
Students exit MLL services after achieving an overall score of 4.5 on the ACCESS test, with no subtest scores below 4.0. Following exit, students receive monitoring support for two years to ensure continued academic success.
Getting Started
To request MLL services for your child, contact your child's school directly.
Instructional Materials and Methods
Our research-based instruction uses varied materials across grade levels:
- Elementary Schools: Rigby Leveled Readers, Houghton Mifflin Leveled Readers, National Geographic materials, University of Chicago Everyday Math, and Rosetta Stone software.
- Rundlett Middle School: Wilson Reading Program, Perfection Learning materials, McDougal Littell and Prentice Hall math programs, and selected literature.
- Concord High School: Pearson Longman materials, Shining Star textbooks, Oxford Press publications, and Wilson System materials. Students also receive daily pull-out support in our resource room with certified MLL teachers and tutors.
Professional Development
MLL teachers participate in ongoing training through the New Hampshire Department of Education, WIDA programs, and regional conferences. They share current best practices with mainstream teachers, counselors, and administrators throughout the district.
