The Concord School District offers competency-based education that allows students multiple opportunities to demonstrate success. Instructional and assessment practice are research based, differentiated and rigorous.

Curriculum

Goal 1

Develop consistent competencies K-12.

  • Continue to evaluate curriculum for all content areas.
  • Establish districtwide committees in content areas to determine instructional materials that aligned with competencies and standards.
  • Align curriculum K-12.
  • Determine student transition protocols and procedures as they move from grades/schools.

Goal 2

Provide equitable access to curriculum for all students, staff and families.

  • Implement Universal Design for Learning, pK-12 to ensure all students have an opportunity to demonstrate “expertise.”
  • Incorporate Pathways at the middle school, in grades 6-8.
  • Adopt curriculum that reflects cross cultural content.

Goal 3

Establish a process for ensuring that the Concord Regional Technical Center (CRTC) remains innovative in offering students relevant and applicable experiences.

  • Develop short and long-term goals for CRTC.
  • New – Explore opportunities with NHTI – Concord’s Community College for CRTC and CHS students.

Goal 4

Increase awareness of the impact of social media on students and families.

  • Develop competencies in grades K-12 that address social media and digital wellness.
  • New – incorporate explicit instruction on digital wellness K-12.

Instruction

Goal 1

Determine and implement common instructional materials across all grade levels/content areas.

  • Implement consistent instructional materials that are used uniformly throughout the district.
  • Ensure that instructional materials are aligned to standards and address competencies.

Goal 2

Create professional development on research-based best instructional practices, pK-12.

  • Implement Universal Design for Learning in all schools.
  • Determine professional development needs throughout the district and develop a cycle for ongoing trainings.

Goal 3

Redesign the staff evaluation system to provide targeted expectations for excellence in instruction delivery.

  • Finalize redesigned staff evaluation system.
  • Create protocols for instructional rounds and walk-throughs as a regular practice in all schools.

Goal 4

Research and design a universal pK program.

  • Research current best practices for children, ages 3 & 4.

Assessment

Goal 1

Measure student mastery of content and determine next steps for instruction.

  • Develop common formative and summative assessments at all grade levels.

Goal 2

Conduct ongoing data analysis of student performance.

  • New - Use data at all levels to analyze student outcomes and make recommendations for interventions.
  • Enhance Professional Learning Communities and protocols.
  • Develop an annual district report card for the community that identifies yearly progress and needs.

Goal 3

Review and re-write report cards, 6-12.

  • Establish grade level teams to review current report cards and identify areas for revision.
  • Create grade level and content level teams that will identify competencies/standards for assessments.

Goal 4

Align interventions for special education and at-risk students.

  • Continuously evaluate data sets to create programs to meet the needs of a diverse student populations.
  • Align assessment and instructional tools to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Implement and continue to evaluate the four-year special education continuous improvement plan.
