PD Day March 21st
- There was a discussion on staff burnout and grief.
- Brittany mentioned that March is a challenging time due to resetting from February break and coming back to a number of deadlines which can cause stress and be hard to balance.
- Leslie said it’s the time of year for anxieties about the following school year .
- Bevan talked about grief going from individual to family to community.
- Fern is thinking about next year’s PD days agendas.
- Brittany asked about I-Ready Math Training being required for many teachers and wondering how they would have time for other workshops.
- Kristen mentioned there was too much mandatory training required.
- Brittany said there was more required of some staff than others.
- Bevan asked if there were resources for teachers.
- Brittany asked Melissa if this would be under EAP.
- Fern said DOE put out an 18-hour training which filled up quickly. This was after the school day.
- Bevan asked if we needed CEU’s. He suggested adding self-care options to that.
Staff Survey
- The group discussed shooting for April for staff survey info, or as soon as possible.
- Members would be notified when the survey was coming out so they can let school staff know. Brittany asked how we would use survey results. Stacey explained the outcomes.
- Stacey said this was a draft for Kathleen and Terry.
- Drop downs were mentioned as a possibility.
- There was discussion on the surveys being anonymous.
- There was discussion on keeping the survey district focused rather than school based.
- Kristen said it might be interesting to see responses by school for data collection.
- Bevan said he needed to see the policy. Liz said she would help him find it on the website.
- Fern said staff wellness was added to the policy.
- Leslie asked if we were getting too far into the weeds with question #4.
- There was discussion on how this would help us as a committee.
- Fern is concerned it would provoke negativity.
- Leslie proposed changing language to “What is something the Wellness Committee could do for you?”
- Bevan asked if the policy stated we must create material for staff.
- Fern looked it up. Liz found answer under 4A, second paragraph “Committee needs to make a list of community resources.”
- It was suggested to ask staff in the survey what they’d be interested in and break down according to wellness policy outline, then leave open ended.
