Survey Results

  • There was a request made for more wellness options at PD days.
  • Jennie and Sarah updated that the MBS survey had just gone out that day.
  • BMS survey didn’t go out. Fern will follow up on that.
  • Liz mentioned that people have a lot of different ideas about what wellness is.
  • Many people liked food related activities. Allison D. mentioned some people feel appreciated when offered a luncheon.
  • Fern commented on “ignoring staff tenure” and what this could mean.
  • Allison C. said other organizations recognize years of service. Other members said that might be fun to do. Leslie suggested doing this at Opening Day, just like introducing new staff. Sarah mentioned MBS lines up newest to oldest.
  • Tracy and Jay got some shout outs in the survey. Leslie suggested our committee letting them know they were mentioned and appreciated.
  • Fern mentioned that she thinks the gist of the results is about staff not feeling appreciated and feeling lonely.
  • Sarah mentioned the Sunshine Group promotes various recognition activities.
  • Fern said we can pull information together and make recommendations.
  • Fern mentioned there were quite a few responses on financial literacy. Melissa said this doesn’t come from the district. There was a question on what the results of the financial literacy mean. Is it personal or professional?

Next Steps from Survey Results

  • There was a discussion on what we now do with the information gathered in the surveys.
  • Should we look at the information by school or by district?
  • Leslie mentioned people don’t know we have a policy or where to find it.

Newsletter

  • Suggestions were made to do quarterly posts to link to the policy, and to share suggestions on what’s happening in the district.
  • There was a discussion on gym discounts. Melissa will ask Michele Garon about this. There are organizations that do offer incentives. Leslie suggested a Community Corner section to put in the newsletter with this kind of informaiton.
  • It was suggested that we do a quarterly newsletter.
  • Sarah suggested principals could mention the newsletters at the beginning of the school year.

Food for Celebrations

  • Tracy mentioned she doesn’t know where we’re at with food for celebrations.
  • Fern said the policy isn’t going to change. There will be recommendations made for the handbooks.
  • Tracy and Allison C. would like an official blurb to be able to send out to parents.
  • Jennie asked if there could be something in the orientation packets.
  • The suggestion was also made to make this part of the Superintendent’s newsletter.
  •  Allison D. asked if we could work on a notice next meeting and get ready to send out in June.

Recess Guidelines in Regards to Weather/Temperature

  • Fern is going to check on temps for recess.
  • Leslie asked if we could do research about this, maybe through American Pediatrics.
  • Leslie wants to know what the decision is based on.
