Order and Notice of Public Hearing by the
Concord School District Board on two Petitioned Amendments To the School District Charter
To be held on September 9, 2024 at 6:00pm at Concord High School-Auditorium, 170 Warren Street
The Concord School District Board ["Board"] has received citizen petitions for two proposed amendments to the Concord School District Charter which was adopted by the voters on November 8, 2022, and which became effective on January 1, 2023. The School District Clerk has determined that the petitions contain the required number of signatures from voters registered to vote in the Concord School district.
Pursuant to state statutory law [NH RSA 49-B:5, V(a)], the Board hereby publishes and posts these petitioned amendments and orders that a public hearing be held on September 9, 2024 at 6pm at Concord High School-Auditorium, 170 Warren Street on the following petitioned amendments:
AMENDMENT ONE
"No Concord public school existing as of January 1, 2024, including but not limited to the District's middle school, (Rundlett Middle School), shall be relocated from the parcel on which it was situated as of January 1, 2024, to be rebuilt or replaced elsewhere, without an affirmative simple majority vote of Concord School District voters voting on the question ratifying such relocation. This amendment shall be effective immediately upon passage."
AMENDMENT TWO
"No parcel of real property owned by the Concord School District, larger than one acre, shall be sold, gifted, or exchanged by the District without an affirmative simple majority vote of Concord School District voters voting on the question. This amendment shall be effective immediately upon passage."
Brief explanation of Amendment One
This amendment seeks to remove the authority of the School Board to locate, rebuild or replace a school without a majority vote of the Concord School District voters ratifying the relocation.
Brief explanation of Amendment Two
This amendment seeks to remove the authority of the School Board to sell, give or exchange School District property greater than an acre without a majority vote of the Concord School District voters approving the sale, gift or exchange of property.
